The maintenance schedule.

From the Ambex instructions. Print it and put it on the wall.

This card follows the Ambex instructions for the YM-5, 10, and 15. Your manual is the full word.

Every roast day

  • Chaff collector before starting, again about every 5 to 6 batches.
  • Cooling bin wipe, and clear blocked holes, after.

Chaff cleaning directly lowers the risk of a chaff fire. Do not skip it.

Monthly

  • Front drum bearing: food grade grease, rated 450°F or better. Two or three pumps, stop at pressure.
  • Rear drum bearing: high heat grease, rated 450°F or better. Two or three pumps, stop at pressure.
  • Both blowers out and cleaned, and check the cross tube to the chaff box.
  • Exhaust duct inspected and cleaned if buildup shows.
  • Reachable gas joints leak-checked.
  • E-stop and switches tested.

Food grade still has to hit 450°F. The rating rules.

Grease rated under 450°F turns liquid, leaks out, and can foul the bearing or your coffee.

Every 8 to 10 months

  • Grease the two idler shaft bearings and the sweeper bearing. No fitting on the sweeper: arms off, grease by hand, mind the key between arms and shaft.

Every 6 months

  • Scrape creosote from the chaff-collector walls.

Yearly

  • Jets out with a 7/16" wrench, openings cleared, flame pattern checked.
  • Full exhaust cleaning (more often at high use).
  • Repeat the high-limit trip test and keep the record.

Belts

The belts live behind the guards, and the guards stay on. If a belt breaks or slips, call us.

Never adjust the gas control's pressure regulator or open its capped screws. That's our job.

Keep the schedule. The warranty doesn't cover neglect.
